North Devon Lodges

North Devon Lodges at Forest Lakes

Forest Lakes is a secluded countryside location which is rich in young woodland, and home to thriving wildlife. It is a tranquil and peaceful location, ideal as a retreat from the pressures of everyday life. The lodges are set within this maturing mixed woodland, originally planted in 1991 with over twenty different mixed tree species. Within the estate are 'farm type' walking trails including one along the Torridge riverbank. Adjacent is an area of over thirty acres of increasingly rare "Culm" grassland, a residual fragment of the extensive moors that originally covered this area, managed by the Devon Wildlife Trust. Around the site it is quite common to see red and roe deer, hares, badgers, foxes, buzzards, tawny and barn owls, wild ducks, pheasants, a tremendous variety of garden birds, frogs, toads, numerous butterfly types, and colourful dragon flies. Otters roam this stretch of the Torridge. Bird hides and trail information boards are planned.
